Cleaning Your Gear

Let's face it, no matter what we do, stuff gets dirty and scuffed up! (I'm looking at you, random person who dinged my brand new car the second day I owned it. True story.) Honestly, anytime we see a WANDRD bag all scuffed up and covered in dust, we look at it as a record of all the awesome adventures it's been on! How many stories could that bag tell of your trips together!? However, if you're looking to keep your gear as clean as possible, here's our best advice:

  1. Use a mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or strong detergents as they can potentially damage the materials. Instead, opt for a light soap or mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics. A product like Castile soap or Dawn Liquid mixed with warm water would work, as would a wash product made especially for technical packs and clothing.

  1. Damp cloth or rag: Moisten a clean cloth or rag with water and apply a small amount of the mild soap to create a gentle cleaning solution. Gently scrub the affected areas in a circular motion, being mindful not to scrub too vigorously to prevent any further damage.

  1. Spot cleaning: Focus on the discolored areas, working the cleaning solution into the fabric to help lift stains and restore the original appearance. If necessary, you can gently blot the area with a clean cloth or sponge to remove excess moisture.

  1. Air drying: After cleaning, allow the backpack to air dry in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ensure that the bag is completely dry before storing or using it again.

  1. Heat: We've actually seen success leaving wrinkled or scuffed bags in the warm sun or being extremely gentle and light with a hair dryer to remove some of the imperfections. NOTE: Do not overheat the gear as this can cause damage and void your warranty!

It's important to note that submerging the pack in water, machine washing, or dry cleaning is not recommended, as these methods can potentially cause damage to the materials and construction of the bag. It's your bag, so you're free to do as you please, but this type of aggressive cleaning will void your lifetime warranty, so we do not recommend it.
